Mom Mentor Testimony: Meet Tiffany Malloy

MalloyFamily“One of the things that gives me the most energy is connecting the right resource to the right person at the right time,” says Graham Blanchard Mom Mentor Tiffany Malloy. Read more about her walk in faith with her family and blog community:

What is your testimony? How did you become a follower of Christ?

I became a Christ-follower in junior high after attending youth group with a good friend for a couple years. I was always a “good kid,” so it took me a while to really get that the gospel was about so much more than being “good,” but instead it is about saving grace and relationship with God. My world was tipped upside down, and I’ve been enjoying this unpredictable journey ever since.

Tell us about your ministry through your blog and how it all got started.

I started blogging in college, although back then it was in the form of “open journals.” Writing with a community in mind helped me to process through the ideas I was wrestling with, especially as it related to what I was reading. Over time and many geographical moves, I have found that having a virtual space that is “mine” has allowed me to have a sense of stability and also helps me to stay connected to my friends all over the world! One of the things that gives me the most energy is connecting the right resource to the right person at the right time. On my blog I share with others what I’m learning, and most of what I read in order to help others find resources to help them along in their spiritual journey.

What are the biggest challenges for you as a Christian woman? MomMentorLogoFB

I really love leading and teaching, and have found that that isn’t always welcome in communities of faith. It’s been really hard for me to find ways to meaningfully exercise these gifts in some of the churches we have been a part of because of my gender. Figuring out the relationship between how God has wired me, along with how the church functions, has been an interesting challenge!

How does your faith influence your parenting?

My faith informs every aspect of my parenting. I think about how the gospel affects discipline, rewards, motivations, emotional needs, physical needs, spiritual needs—every nook and cranny! I think that because of the gospel, I recognize the need for my child to receive grace from me as a reflection of God, and that is a unique aspect of Christian parenting.

In closing, what encouragement would you offer a struggling mom?

Weary momma, hang in there. You’re not alone—there are hundreds of moms who are also tired, frustrated, or just have no idea if they are parenting well (and are so scared that they are not). When you feel weary, please know that God sees you and knows what you’re going through. He so desires for you to bring you weariness to Him, and He will help you shoulder it (Matthew 11.28-30). Also, reach out to another mom. It’s easier to carry your loads together than alone. God never created us to do this parenting thing by ourselves—He was so gracious in giving us traveling buddies!
